Credit Union Supervisory Committee

May 26th, 2005 | by mbhunter |

I’m chair of the Supervisory Committee at the NSWC Federal Credit Union. The Supervisory Committee performs oversight to the credit union’s board of directors — it performs cash count audits, performs or hires out for the credit union’s audits, and has broad power to throw out board members if they act unethically.

Our committee also handles member complaints. And I’ve only received one complaint during my two years on the committee.

Are you unhappy with the treatment you’ve gotten at your credit union? Have policies changed unfavorably and you haven’t gotten a good answer why?

Talk to your Supervisory Committee. The National Credit Union Administration requires that its member credit unions have one. That’s what they’re there for!
