They talk about hybrids in this article. A friend told me that his VW Beetle Diesel gets almost 50 mpg, so that’s another option for a gas-sipper as opposed to a gas-guzzler. They’re a tad hard-to-find, though. That, or a 3-pinger Geo Metro gets upwards of 50 mpg.
