August 15th is next Monday — and I knew this for how long?

August 6th, 2005 | by mbhunter |

I’m a terrible procrastinator. Part of the slowdown in the postings on MBH.com is that I’m working to get my taxes in order for a partnership and my individual return. I filed for a four-month extension, and that extension is almost up. Where did the time go?

So if the posts are a little sparse for the next week or so, please forgive me and I’ll pick up speed again after the 15th.

Also, if you’re not a procrastinator — or were one and figured out how to combat it — I’d love for you to comment on how you do it.

Procrastination causes a lot of stress and can cause financial costs as well, so it’s best to learn how to avoid it. (This is something I still have to work on.)

    Hey,
Here is how I killed my own procrastination demons.
First, I set aside an entire day, just to get myself organized.
Home office, computer, papers, everything. I cleaned, and cleaned
and threw out, etc. Then I totally organized all of my paper-work
into one of those handheld filing system box things. Great!
I pulled my credit, made a list of billing dates, etc. etc. I did all of this
at one time, in one day. Really, really worked well for me. Now,
all those things that used to take days, or a lot of effort, I do in a few
minutes. I know where my junk is, I know how it is organized, I get things
    done.
Now, as far as mowing the lawn…. that’s a whole nother thing…
