Update on “I have to pay HOW MUCH for a wedding gift?”

August 24th, 2005 | by mbhunter |

In a previous post I mentioned that we got an inexpensive wedding gift — a book on relationships — that supposedly was a “bad” wedding gift to give someone. I didn’t know why this was bad — it’s not as if newly married couples know everything about being married!

Well, my wife ran across a newer one by Dr. Laura Schlessinger called The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands. She reviews Dr. Laura’s book on her blog, HittingTheBooks.com.

The thought of giving a book on relationships for a wedding would seem to make sense. But there is a chance this gift could backfire by being perceived by the couple that you don’t believe that their relationship is strong enough as it is.

Thanks for the comment! I suppose that I can see that point of view … I just know that we didn’t take it that way.
