The green headers are a bit hard on the eyes, particularly when they’re as big as the one at the top. I would try to tone down the color just a touch (but that’s just me). Also, on my browser (FireFox/Mac) the subscribe box is just a bit too wide for the sidebar (it sticks out by a few pixels on the right), and a number of your links wrap at the end of the line which makes the link list look a bit messay. May you could make your sidebar bit wider? (Also, you might consider shortening some of the names of the links). Overall, though, I like it.
Hey nickel, thanks for the suggestions. I was looking for something besides the default for a while, and ran across the “SubLIMEnal” theme. Out of the box it was pretty good.
I darkened the title colors a little bit. They could’ve stood a little toning down.
Also I made the sidebar a little wider. Did it fix the subscribe problem on your end?
Thanks again for the suggestions. Any others please holler.
But some of your link titles are still line-wrapping (at least on my setup they are). I’m overly anal about things, so take this with a grain of salt, but I would modify the titles slighty, as follows:
K’s Financial Progress
Johnny Miser’s Blog
The others are okay. It looks like anything as short as (or shorter than) Consumerism Commentary fits without line-wrapping.
Okay, one last thing… It might look nice if you move the dollar sign in the headers to the right side, rather than having your text running over it. In fact, a right-justified triple dollar sign ($$$) might look pretty cool.
Nickel, thanks again for the suggestions! Extra pairs of helpful eyes are great. I shortened the two websites as you suggested. The right-aligned dollar signs is a good suggestion. The $ I have now was a little more straightforward to implement, so once I get more comfortable with the theme I may give your idea a try.
J MacKenzie, yeah I liked the blue as well — if the green doesn’t wear well I may play with the colors to blueify them. (Though I’ll ask my wife to help — I’m just about color blind!)
