Financial stuff — bargain hunting, investing, shopping, financial planning, etc. — is inexorably tied with numbers. Calculators make handling numbers much easier.

My first electronic toy was a calculator. This was back in the mid-1970s. It was a Rockwell with a number of advanced functions called “add,” “subtract,” “multiply,” and “divide.” I learned that I could “count” by pushing “1″ and then repeatedly pushing the plus sign.

You might say that I was teethed on a calculator.
