“Highest Bid Wins” vs “Stand In Line”

September 12th, 2005 | by mbhunter |

I think that I heard this from Gary North in his newsletter Reality Check.

Translated: Pay in money, or pay in time. A bargain in price probably isn’t a bargain in time.

Such as:

  • Live close to your job in a big city, or commute three hours a day.
  • Shop at Kroger’s (or Ukrop’s, or your favorite neighborhood store), or shop at a Wal-Mart Supercenter.
  • Get medical care fast from a doctor who takes cash in advance, or sit in the waiting room of one who takes Medicare.

Seth Godin makes this point as well on his blog after he went to buy some spray paint.
