We’re probably going to miss Black Friday
November 23rd, 2005 | by mbhunter |We’re going to my wife’s parents for Thanksgiving this year. They live in a small town in southern Ohio, a good 45 minutes from any decent-sized town. So getting out to a big store for a 6 AM giveaway is probably out of the question.
If you didn’t get your XBox360 yesterday, you might be able to snag some loss leaders on Friday, but you’ll probably getting there really early for some of the good ones. Our local Wal-Mart was selling (while supplies last) HP laptops for $378. That caught my attention. (That, and my mother-in-law didn’t take my offer of $150 for her G4 iBook!) I asked a guy in the electronics section of Wal-Mart how the distribution was going to work. He didn’t know; this was the first time that they tried it with laptops. I have a feeling they’ll be gone in about 15 minutes, though.
Early to Rise today had a small feature on Black Friday. It said that some of the biggest deals will be then as retailers kick off the holiday shopping season. Some places to read about Black Friday were given:
One last thing to remember: Regardless of how good a deal it is, if you don’t want it, it’s no deal at all!
