I have an eBay selling accountability partner!

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

We visited some friends on the way home from my wife’s parents’ house last week. They used to attend our church but moved out of the area.

M.E., the mother in the family, was talking about her auction finds and how she was going to re-sell the items on eBay for profit. She got about $100 worth of box lots, and if you’ve ever been to an estate auction, you know that you can easily fill up a car for $100 if you bottom feed. M.E.’s husband calls most of the stuff junk (which it might be for all I know).

Well, I have accumulated a number of similar “deals” that I’ve been meaning to sell on eBay. And my wife, like M.E.’s husband, views the “deals” as junk as well. (Which they’re not. It’s my blog and I can describe my stuff however I want! :P)

So, in the spirit of spurring one another on toward love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24), M.E. is my accountability partner to let go of this stuff, hopefully for profit. We agreed to sell at least one item a week. Then our spouses (spice?) chimed in and said that if we didn’t sell one item a week, we’d put an item on FreeCycle.org. (I’m not sure how they got involved, but it’s obviously for their own selfish interests and not for anything remotely as noble as what M.E. and I are doing.)

So, I’ll live up to my end of the bargain and post my auctions as they go up.*

(*Note from my spouse: Maybe. Someday. When the mood strikes. Next blue moon, perhaps. “Oh, look! A flying pig!”)

What a great idea! I also find salable Ebay items accumulating when I know I should be listing. Finding the motivation to start the auction process is something I also need help with.

Finding someone else with the motivation and inclination to sell on Ebay is the problem - you are lucky you found your partner!

    Jane of the Dough,

Yes, this might help to get some of the junk out of the way. Besides, the market for Commodore 64 computers probably won’t get any hotter at this point.
