Saving nothing is a good thing! Really!

What a great post on Financial Train Wreck:

I Saved Nothing This Weekend!

This is a good thing for your checkbook, not a bad thing. Trainwreck is using a play on the retail definition of the word “save.” As in “Save 50%,” “Buy Now and Save,” etc.  I usually get a chuckle out of seeing these kinds of signs.
Retailers would have us believe that they’re doing us such a favor by “saving” us all this money. Actually, Americans on average are saving (no quotes) the least of their income since the Great Depression.  In fact, the average American spends more than they make.

But, they may be “saving” a lot of money in the process!
