Don’t worry if you didn’t.

If you’ve begun reading Mighty Bargain Hunter since it’s been in blog format, then you probably never knew.

In a previous incarnation, Mightybargainhunter.com was a hard-coded set of HTML pages.  I added a forum to spark some discussion, but at the time it didn’t really take off too much.  So, after I went to the blog format, I buried the forum by not providing a link to it on the main page, but never got rid of it.  Every once in a while the spammers would get hold of it and I’d need to go in and delete a bunch of user accounts, but other than that, I just kept it online so that it would be of use to someone.

There were a few good tips on there — a lot of good tips from the folks at SavingAdvice.com.  I also posted my Savings Advice savings journal posts (that was my blog at the time) on the MBH Forum.  Because there were these great tips on the forum, I was reluctant to get rid of it.

I was about to get rid of it for good when one of the Money Blog Network members did a Google link count.  Most of the number he quoted for this site were links not to the blog posts, but to the forum!

So, I decided tonight to re-open the forum.  Here it is!

As part of the re-opening of the forum, I’m having a giveaway!  I’ll be giving away THREE one-year subscriptions to some of your favorite personal finance magazines:  Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Money, and Smart Money.  (To US addresses only.)  Here are the three steps, to be completed by the end of March, 2006:

1. Post a comment in this post.
2. Register for the MBH Forum.
3. Introduce yourself in the forum by posting in the “Introduce Yourself” section.  Mention your blog comment name.

I’ll choose three registered members at random at the end of the month, and they will receive their choice of magazine.  That’s it!  I hope that you’ll check out the posts and contribute some of your own discussions.  There’s also lots of opportunity to add categories and suggestions about what you want to see in the blog and forum.  I have a few ideas of my own as well.
