I have good news, and bad news …

John Anderson, a brilliant mathematician and one of my favorite professors at college, had quite a way with words as well. On one of my papers I made a silly algebra error (I think it was equating the sum of the squares with the square of the sum) and he wrote, “Obviously, this is a moment of great pride for you!” (I’m not sure what he’s doing now, but maybe he’s happily retired, or has passed away, perhaps after a night of drinking and deriving ** rim shot **)
Well, here’s another moment of great pride for me …

I posted on my purchase of a riding lawn mower at an auction … and also about how it was less than half of the price of a new one.

The GOOD NEWS is that the mower starts up really nicely, has great power (and a Kohler engine), the tires have lots of tread, and the body is in great shape. Also, we were blessed to have someone with a pickup truck help us out with transporting it to our home.

The BAD NEWS is that, in the heat of the battle, we overlooked the fact that a small part was missing:

The mowing deck.

Hehe … oops! :)

Looks like it’s back to eBay! The price of a complete mowing deck, direct from Sears, is the same price that we paid for the mower! (So THAT’S why it went for such a low price!)
Anyone know of any good places to get a used 46″ mowing deck for a Craftsman model 917.251480? ;)
