Three flea market finds, all for a dollar

April 6th, 2006 | by mbhunter |

The first flea market of the season was on April Fool’s Day. Here’s what I picked up:

  • A metal 8-shelf document tray for a quarter. Old and sturdy. This is $32.99 at Staples now.
  • An old Scrabble game for a quarter. Scrapbookers buy just the tiles for about $5/set on eBay!
  • An Ikea stool that matches the one we already have for our kitchen. This cost 50 cents. They’re the perfect height because we can shove it next to our cabinets and the doors will open with only a small amount of clearance.

There are always lots of good deals at flea markets, one thing (among many) I’ve had to learn is not to buy something only because it’s cheap. I need a purpose in mind for it or I’m just frittering away my money and my wife’s patience. I knew exactly where all three of these things were going to go (next to my computer desk, on eBay, and in the kitchen, in that order).

Any good garage sale/flea market finds for you all this past weekend?

Nicely done. I can’t get over what scrapbookers will buy. I packaged up leftover bits of yarn from my knitting obsession & they are now hot little items! Who knew?
