Some cent links

July 28th, 2006 | by mbhunter |

With all of the recent debate on axing the Lincoln cent, here are a few cool links to bolster some support.  My two cents’ worth, as it were:

  • Coinflation — tracks the value of the metal in common American coins and some older coins that have been driven out of circulation.  The recent bull market in copper has pushed the worth of pre-1982 pennies and current nickels beyond their face value.
  • The MegaPenny Project – a great illustrative site on orders of magnitude using pennies.  Find out how many pennies would fit in the Empire State Building!
  • Hoarding Copper – a growing forum dealing with collecting coins for their metal content.  Some precious metals talk and survivalism mixed in.
