Five things you didn’t know about mbhunter

December 31st, 2006 | by mbhunter |

All righty. NCN tagged me to get me to spill five things you don’t know about me:

  1. I won three regional spelling bees out of six that I entered up through middle school. The three words that knocked me out were judgeship, wean, and permanent.
  2. I play piano and trumpet. My favorite jazz trumpetists are Miles Davis, Wynton Marsalis (whom I’ve met), and Maynard Ferguson. I play on our church’s worship team now, but in graduate school I was in a band that played 60s and 70s Motown stuff. (Brick House, anyone?)
  3. I love really hot foods. Buffalo Wild Wings’ Blazin’ wings make me tear up, but the hottest wings I’ve had are from Zaxby’s, a Southeastern chain.
  4. I have perfect pitch. If you hum something, I can tell you what note you’re humming.
  5. I can drink a pot of coffee a day and not even feel it!

Hmmmm … who should I tag next? How about Bargain Quest?

this thing “If you hum something, I can tell you what note you’re humming.” is awesome. Not many people have that ability. reminds me of a friend in 12th grade who used to identify audible tuning fork frequencies in our physics experiments just by listening to the forks.
Is that because you played piano early on or something?

I don’t know. I listened to a LOT of classical music when I was young because my Dad always had it on. I could do this when I was eight years old, so I didn’t train myself to do it. One of those highly non-marketable skills. ;)
