Were you a ButterflyMall.com member?

A few years ago I did an interview with the founder of ButterflyMall.com, which was a click-through rebate shopping site similar to EBates.  Some of the rebates that ButterflyMall offered were better than EBates, and there was a 10% kickback for rebates earned by referrals, so I recommended the site to my readers.

Things were happy for a time.  Afterwards, though, I received a couple of e-mails from ButterflyMall members who had earned substantial rebates (over $100) and were not getting paid.  Since I knew the site owner, I forwarded the e-mails to him, and he sent them on to the head of the company who was handling the fulfilment of the rebates (the site owner of ButterflyMall apparently had a re-branded version of the the rebate engine).  The first person had her rebate check sent out after a few weeks.  I don’t know about the second person’s check.

I don’t know what the issues were in the falling-out.

A few months ago I got an e-mail with a notice that ButterflyMall had closed.  I had only a small amount of rebates in my account, which was under the payout threshold of $15.  So I chalked it up to experience and moved on.

Then, about a week ago, I got a check in the mail for my rebate balance.  The check was dated 27 January 2007, so I suspect most of the other ones went out at about the same time.

If you had a rebate balance for ButterflyMall.com and haven’t received a check for your balance due, check out the website and give it a shot.
