Welcome New York Times readers!

Fred Brock’s article, Cutting Costs While Appearing Savvy, appeared in the New York Times Tuesday. If you arrived at this site through a link from that article, welcome! I hope you enjoy your stay!
As Mr. Brock mentioned in his article, I love looking for ways to save money — finding deals online, at yard sales, at auctions, at thrift stores. Buying quality used items whenever possible is the best money-saving tip I can give.
About a year and a half ago I started up the Carnival of Debt Reduction, which is a weekly blog carnival that highlights other bloggers’ posts on reduction of consumer debt. The carnival this week is hosted at No Credit Needed, which is run by a gentleman who blogged as he eliminated over $10,000 in consumer debt and now encourages others to achieve their financial goals through his network. The other blogger mentioned alongside of me in Mr. Brock’s article, Tricia from Blogging Away Debt, is a regular contributor to this blog carnival and has paid off more than $15,000 in consumer debt already. For a wealth of debt reduction information and experiences, the archives for the Carnival of Debt Reduction are available.
I like lists of tips, and if you do too, here are a few of mine:
- Fifteen easy ways to save fifteen bucks
- Sixteen ways being disorganized costs you money
- Twenty-five ways I save money
If you’re new to the growing world of personal finance blogs, the blogs listed in my left sidebar are ones I read. The Money Blog Network is a group of bloggers who were kind enough to take me under their wing a little over a year ago. Additionally, PFBlogs.org aggregates the posts from even more.
As a final note, if you’re interested in more of Fred Brock’s writing, please check out my review of Health Care On Less Than You Think. The book was an eye-opener for me. I especially recommend that you read it if you’re thinking about leaving a job with health benefits.
Thanks again for checking out the site, and please feel free to contact me with comments!
