September 2007 is eBay Month at MyPoints

September 5th, 2007 | by mbhunter |

I’ve talked about how easy it is to get gift cards just by reading e-mails through MyPoints. I also love eBay for buying and selling stuff and for doing comparison shopping. It’s really hard to beat.

If you join MyPoints and click through the link on the site after you’ve signed into your account, you get 4 points per dollar you spend on eBay items during the month of September! You can knock down the price of your purchase three ways:

  • Buying on eBay when done correctly usually gets you a better deal than a brick-and-mortar store.
  • If you use a cash-back credit card like the Chase PerfectCard™ MasterCard® (the one I’ve used for several years now) you knock off another 1%.
  • If you clicked through your MyPoints account you accumulate points that you can use toward gift cards to Starbucks, Cracker Barrel, Red Lobster, or any of a number of different popular places.

So if you wanted a $400 item that you found used on eBay for $200 — and for almost everything it’s a great idea to try to get it used — clicking through your account after you join MyPoints would get you enough points this month to get a $5 gift card for Starbucks. It really is that easy. And I’ve been really impressed with how fast MyPoints delivers their rewards after you redeem them.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the tip… I didn’t even know MyPoints ever gave points for Ebay besides for signing up. Had a couple purchases to make this month which should help my MyPoints balance a lot.

    I didn’t either. It’s quite a deal, actually.

Thanks for the MyPoints info – I’ve been racking up 5 points here and 5 points there.
I should have enough points for a $10 GC by the end of the year.

Nice they have an Ebay month, I like the idea :-) )

My number of points are increasing rather slow these days, I came across a new similar loyalty program called Points2shop.

Already got my 2nd Amazon gift card last week :-) )

I won’t spam my referral link, just the main link for those who are interested: http://www.points2shop.com

    Happy shopping ;-)

I have over $200,000 in ebay purchases over the past 2 years and I click through MyPoints for each auction I win. To date, they have never applied ANY of my ebay purchases to my MyPoints account and they have lost my last (2) 5000 point Hilton awards.

As of 9/19/07, Hilton has informed me that Hilton will no longer be offering support for failed MyPoints transfers. Since MyPoints has no phone numer like a typical scumbag eBusinesses, and refuses to answer any of my emails, I am considering legal action. They have also stopped sending point offers by email, yet my account remains open.

I cannot be the first person they have done this to. They owe me hundreds of thousands of points and I can easily document every click and every purchase – not to mention all of my future purchases.

Paul: Hmmmmmmm. That’s 180 degrees from my experience. I’ve heard others that have told MyPoints which offers didn’t get credited and MyPoints has fixed it right away.

I’m not saying you’re wrong; I’m just puzzled.
