A well-balanced report on Peak Oil

November 15th, 2007 | by mbhunter |

This report, published in February 2005, presents a level-headed assessment of the evidence for Peak Oil and of the steps that can be taken to mitigate the negative effects that a shortfall in oil supply would cause.  The Hirsch Report is also a good introduction to some of the important terminology, technology, and statistics on the subject.  A couple of “Oh really?” moments came up, like the realization that the US is the largest producer of oil (as of the time of writing of the report).

The outlook still isn’t cheery but the presentation is frank without being inflammatory.  There are lots of references.  There are no expletives (at least none that I caught). ;)

If you get something out of the report I’d love to hear about it.
