I have some of the same goals as you. I'm not going to try to read my Bible through in a year. I've never been able to do it. But, I will read several books (of the Bible) several times as I tend to study more than I read casually.

You're idea of the Bible on CD is a good one.

I also have a goal of losing some weight. And I've started my blog to help others in our Sunday School class with this same goal. I hope you will check it out and see if the posts help you with your goal, too.

If you like it, maybe a mutual link would help us both with traffic. Thanks and good luck with your goals.

"I want a closer relationship with God". What a good and special goal. I never come across goal that related to region. I think this year, I must set one for myself.

Thanks for your inspiration.

I've been trying to finish the Bible as well...I trailed off at the halfway mark. My church has a weekly bible reading pamphlet they hand out listing the week's bible verses to read as well as a few questions to answer (to prove you read it). You are supposed to hand in the completed questions during the next service.

I have the stacks of reading pamphlets that I need to get back to reading...I intend to finish it in 2008!
Have a great new year

Good luck with these---especially the weight goal, that can be tricky. Remember the same tips as personal finance--discipline, long-term, etc. :)

I think it's a great goal to have over 2000 feeds. You're doing great. I'm in the 40's now, but I plan on taking blogging a lot more seriously this year. Good luck.

Hey, I just found your blog recently. Thanks for the tips & insights. I'm totally with you on goals 1, 2 and 3.

Last year I lost 35 pounds with the help of a personal trainer who made my workouts effective, interesting, and varied. Those were the things lacking in my program before. It was expensive but worth it for a season. Then I allowed work to take over my life again in the fall and gained 20 back. Arg. MUST KILL WORKAHOLISM B4 IT KILLS ME!

Part of the workaholism stems from paying for a gradual climb in consumer debt. I had none for about 15 years but somehow it crept up on me in the past few. So 2008 will be the year of wise choices and paying it off without working myself into either a heart attack, diabetes, or nervous breakdown. LOL.

And I have tried reading or listening to the Bible in toto but have never been able to stay engaged, though my heart's in the right place. So this year I'm going to try reading at least the whole NT of The Message because it doesn't trigger the religiosity/performance-based-salvation thing for me. BTW, my favorite Christian podcast/blogs are Lifestream.org and TheGodJourney.com. You might want to check them out this year sometime whether you enjoy the Christian life inside the box or out.

Whatever we do this year, may it spring from love and grace. Let's don't should all over ourselves in 2008!
