Yeah, I got into coupons and at first was making the mistake that many make: buying some over-priced thing I normally don't get because I've got a 50 cent off coupon for it. Now, I do a simple thing. I go to CouponMom.com and see what they rate are the best deals for my store and any coupons they note. I look through the list (and my circular) to see if there are any buy-one-get-one-free deals of interest and check to see if I have coupons for them. The days of being able to buy tons of groceries for nothing are over now that double and triple coupon days are no more. But with some effort to track prices and to use coupons strategically, you can save. I've consistently paid about 60% of what I ordinarily would have if I didn't use coupons. And kept to my food budget.

Gotta disagree on the coupons. I use them religiously and have cut my already small, by most standards, food budget. The key is to not let them dictate what you buy instead use them to stock up on things you use regularly.

This is a great site to find some good deals. The site does not seem to list a lot of them but the quality is great. I saved hundreds of this site.

I agree most coupons are for stuff you do not need and cause you to spend more money on stuff you do not need. Catching sales is a great time to bulk up on food. I only buy steaks when they are under $4.99/lb. The other week I found chicken breast for $1.79/lb I bought plenty. :) Just like at a gas station. Plan to buy gas when you are going to be around a cheaper gas station. If need be, only buy 2-3 dollars at a higher price in order to save the 10 cents per gallon across town.
