I was effectively a bachelor this weekend. My wife and daughter were out of town for a wedding. They’re on the way back now, and not a moment too soon. The house seems empty without them.
Anyway, here are some links from the MBN and other blogs in my reader:
- Consumerism Commentary gives an introduction to ethical consumerism.
- Wise Bread thinks that we actually are changing our driving habits to meet the high price of gasoline.
- Five Cent Nickel discusses the future of renewable energy. (I think his assessment puts things way too mildly, but at least it’s somewhat cheery.)
- No Credit Needed starts off a debt reduction guide.
- Get Rich Slowly is floored by the cost of storing stuff.
- Free Money Finance has a guest post on purchasing power and inflation.
- All Financial Matters explains how he squashes the new car bug. (This is an excellent bug to squash.)
- The Sun’s Financial Diary bought some more of the yellow stuff.
- Money Smart Life gives three ways to make extra money in a recession.
- Generation X Finance thinks that higher food prices might be good for society.
- Lazy Man and Money tells how the military can save money with very inexpensive vacations.
- The Digerati Life shows how you could save 80% on your grocery bill. (I may need to rethink coupons a little bit.)
- Banker Girl discusses the perils of having affluent friends.
- Gather Little By Little shares thirteen ways to save when grocery shopping.
- Get Rich Slick announces that environmentalism has been hijacked by consumerism.
- Cash Money Life gives nine good ways to save money on your next computer.
- Punny Money wonders who bought all of those Hummers last year. (The cartoons are doing good things for this site.)
- Paid Twice discusses something I struggle with: Why get rid of it if it’s perfectly good?
Thanks to The Happy Rock for including my articles on PayPal making it a chore to pay by credit cards in last week’s Carnival of Personal Finance. (Also appreciated that he included my “walk-away” post from Living After Foreclosure.) Thanks to No Debt Plan for including my article on high-income debt in last week’s Carnival of Debt Reduction.
Enjoy!

A day or two to yourself can be a nice time to catch up on things around the house, but it’s amazing how quickly you begin to miss your family and everything that goes along with it.
Thanks for the mention.
