Self-serve ING $25 bonuses are flying off the shelves

May 14th, 2008 | by mbhunter |

A few people at least are putting their stimulus checks to good use and taking advantage of some new-customer ING $25 bonus offers. Three people today have signed up, which is wonderful, and the $25 bonus is a great way to kick-start an emergency fund.

As a recap, here’s what to do if you don’t have an ING account (either an Orange Savings Account or an Electric Orange Checking Account):

  1. Head over to the ING $25 bonus page and click on one of the links (either the savings account or the checking account).
  2. Make an initial deposit of $250 or more in your new account when you set it up.
  3. You’ll get your $25 bonus added to your account and it will be available for withdrawal with a short waiting period. (But you were setting it up to save, so this shouldn’t be an issue, right?)

That’s easy, isn’t it? The catch is I don’t have an unlimited number of these $25 bonuses to give away, so if I want to give away more I’ll need to find someone else to bring theirs here, or wait until ING gives me more.

We have a small amount of money at another online bank but ING Direct is the one we use primarily. The web interface is easy to use and has some good security features on the login. We like it, and I think you will too. Enjoy!

I haven’t made the move to ING simply because well, I like simplicity and having all of my primary accounts at one brick and mortar bank has been a system that’s served me well. But I keep hearing wonderful things about the ING interface, which is what’s really making me consider the switch. I even emailed my B&M bank to ask them to enable some of the ING options I’ve heard of. We’ll see!
