Link roundup: Rat snake edition
July 11th, 2008 | by mbhunter |My wife is the snake-killer in our family. At one point we had over a dozen baby copperheads nesting under the ramp in our shed. My wife, the quick thinker, torched about two-thirds of them, and we got rid of the rest of them one by one.
Well, she recently saw another snake that looks like a copperhead but is not poisonous. She killed this baby rat snake and wished she hadn’t, because they are good snakes to have around. The main difference is that baby copperheads have a lemon-yellow tail while the baby rat snakes do not.
Now let’s slide on to this week’s roundup with posts from the MBN and other blogs in my reader:
- All Financial Matters admits that sometimes it may not be possible to save money.
- Consumerism Commentary produces a lot of garbage, and he’s not just talking about his writing! He’s taking this to heart and taking advantage of discounts for using reusable grocery bags. (This is a heck of a lot nicer to customers than what IKEA did last year.)
- I’ll do a lot to save money on gas, but Nickel, this is going just a bit too far. (In my humblest of opinions, I have a much clearer conscience just using my gas rewards credit card, thank you very much.)
- Free Money Finance comments on the strange real estate market.
- And not to be outdone, Get Rich Slowly serves up eleven tips for first-time homebuyers. (This one’s a guest post by Quest for Four Pillars.)
- No Credit Needed kicks off a five-step a Bills-In-A-Box series.
- Wise Bread reminds us that driving more slowly does indeed save gas. (Yup!)
- Lazy Man and Money revives the good-debt, bad-debt topic.
- Digerati Life has an interesting solution to having too much house.
- Generation X Finance does not underestimate the power of free.
- Money Smart Life considers the four-day workweek as a gas-saving strategy.
- Sun’s Financial Diary talks about MyGallons.com.
- Money Ning wonders what would happen if you thought about saving money as making money.
Have a great weekend!

Thanks a lot for the link – I really enjoyed doing the real estate buying tips post.
Tell you wife good job on the snakes – I would have run and hidden under my bed.

Kudos to your wife for taking care of the snakes. I cannot deal with snakes no matter the size or kind. They totally freak me out!
