Combining my two passions, personal finance and application development, I've created what I believe is the first multi-goal/responsibility financial forecasting tool for the average person (i.e. simple and quick !). Anyway, I agree with most of the above advice, which laughs in the face of the "IPO / Captain of Industry" route that leads to disappointment for so many people. I also think it is important to remember that doing it on your own means a LOT of skills to master, so, don't expect overnight riches !
