Three eights, five rings, and 80% off for the first time

August 8th, 2008 | by mbhunter |

Today, good things come in threes.

Today is August 8th, 2008.  We can write this date as 08/08/08.

Today is the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Summer Olympic Games.

And Restaurant.com is doing a one-day 80% off sale for the first time!

I know I just gave you a Restaurant.com coupon a few days ago but darn it if they didn’t send me another one at 10:24 PM Thursday night!  (I swear I didn’t know about this coupon and it literally came out of nowhere.)

Use coupon code FIRST to score a $25 Restaurant.com dining certificate for just two measly bucks and get the certificates at 92% off of face value!  Or sign up for the Dinner of the Month club and enjoy the 92% savings for a full year.

This coupon code — FIRST — is good from 4 AM central standard time to 11:59 PM central standard time today, August 8th, 2008, according to the e-mail I received.

So enjoy the date trifecta, enjoy the opening ceremonies, and enjoy knocking $23 off of your qualifying dining expenses at one of thousands of restaurants over at Restaurant.com!

ChrstianPF: The restaurants use the gift certificates to get people in the door. The dining certificates amount to really good coupons; they’re not quite the same as cash at those restaurants because they have restrictions. Restaurant.com takes a fee for (probably) each certificate that is bought, enough to cover their server costs and pay the employees and the affiliates.
