Link roundup: Upstate NY edition
August 31st, 2008 | by mbhunter |I’m up in upstate NY visiting my family and my new niece. The weather’s clear as a bell up here today but I know that’s not true everyplace else in the country.
Here are some links of interest from the folks at the MBN and other blogs in my reader:
- Free Money Finance asks if it’s ethical to bring food and drink into a movie theater. (I think it’s only an issue because the theaters don’t want it brought in. Unethical? Probably not, but if it’s against the rules then they can, and should, kick you out.)
- Five Cent Nickel talks about risk-free banking. (As if such a thing exists.
) - All Financial Matters proposes a list of the minimum that high-schoolers should know about personal finance. (By the way, please keep JLP and his family in your prayers — and everyone else in the path of Gustav.)
- No Credit Needed drives home ten ways to save money on golf. (”Standing in front of people teeing off to catch their golf balls” isn’t one of them.)
- Get Rich Slowly advocates thinking yearly rather than monthly when considering a budget.
- Wise Bread questions the role of fantasy football in the workplace.
- Consumerism Commentary thinks Dave Ramsey is appealing to the masses.
- Lazy Man and Money wonders whether it’s really possible to make money off of eBay. (It is getting harder.)
- Generation X Finance airs a back-and-forth about whether the rich or the poor pay more tax.
- Digerati Life runs through some numbers on how much one would need to pay for a child’s college education.
- Money Smart Life gives several ways to maximize your wedding registry.
- The Simple Dollar rattles off nine things to try when things get tough. (Bankruptcy is on the list but I’d suggest trying that last.)
Have a great Labor Day wherever you are!

You are in my reader, actually! My bad for missing that pretty obvious connection though.
