If people didn’t see the terms of the coupons (minimum purchase etc.) they didn’t read the text that was directly below the Add To Cart button. That’s plenty clear in my book.

Restaurants do drop out of the program (one of my favorites just did) and not all areas have a lot of participating restaurants. It’s up to restaurants whether they participate or not, and how.

I missed the one coupon per month per restaurant restriction. That’s good to know.

Nonetheless, I stand by my recommendation of Restaurant.com. Some people will not think this is a good deal, and that’s fine, but I think it’s a fantastic deal if you like to eat out and if your favorite restaurants participate.

Why ‘pay’ for coupons anyway ??

Do you pay for supermarket or store coupons ? No, they are free.

Most retail vendors periodically offer big sales/discounts at no charge. My local newspaper has many (free) restaurant coupons every week.

…. there are at least 200 restaurants within 30′ drive of my home, but “Restaurant.com” lists only two participating restaurants in my area — ones I never heard of… nor frequent.

Their coupon redemption rules typically require:

– Minimum of $35 ‘food’ purchase
– ” 2 people in party
– Only one coupon per party, no matter how many people or separate checks.
- Only one coupon per month per restaurant

Don’t just take my word for it…

Google: +complaints +”Restaurant.com” and read the real experiences of people using these bargain coupons.

1) You can search by ZIP code to see which restaurants participate.
2) The restrictions for each restaurant are in plain view, directly below the “Add To Cart” button. There are no surprises.

90% off makes these certificates almost free. If your favorite restaurant is on the list, why on earth not pay a buck to save $25?

The catch is: lots of big restrictions on how the coupons can be redeemed… and few restaurants that will accept them at all.

It’s not an outright scam, but it’s close enough for most people.

If you dig hard enough, one can find the sorry details at their website — so it’s ‘legal’ technically. Buyer Beware.

mbhunter has a financial interest in advertising those coupons here… and though there’s nothing wrong with selling blog advertising — those coupons are certainly not a “bargain” for most consumers.
